AKC Standards for Local Establishments

Every certified establishment should have a Kosher Letter posted detailing the standards of Kashrus in their establishment.

Cholov Yisroel:

AKC-certified establishments are not certified as CY unless it says so in the Kosher Letter. Formaggio Mio and the Peach Pit in The Spicy Peach are certified as CY. The CY status only applies to the restaurants. Off-premises catering or catering orders from any restaurant/caterer under the AKC are not required to be CY as they are per the client’s request. Please ask the Mashgiach for Cholov Yisroel status of catered foods and events. Packaged items being sold in grocery stores are as marked.

Pas Yisroel:

AKC-certified establishments are not certified as PY unless it says so in the Kosher Letter. Off-premise catering or catering orders from any restaurant/caterer under the AKC are not required to be PY as they are per the client’s request. Please ask the Mashgiach at the restaurant for the current PY status of baked items. Suppliers can switch and therefore PY status can change. As a rule, items that are baked in-house will be PY and items that are brought in from elsewhere fully baked may not be PY.
Fuego Mundo – There is a list of PY items on the chalkboard behind the register.
Kosher Gourmet – All items at Kosher Gourmet are PY except for the wraps. PY wraps are available upon request.
Kroger – Deli subs are PY. Sandwiches and wraps are not PY.
Publix – Items that are baked in the bakery are PY. This doesn’t include items that are baked before arriving at Publix.
Spicy Peach – Paninis are PY.

Yoshon:

There are no Yoshon establishments in Atlanta. Kroger, Spicy Peach, and Kosher Gourmet carry pre-packaged Yoshon items.

Tuna:

Tuna served at establishments does not have to be Hashgacha Temidis and Bishul Yisroel. Tuna from Kosher Gourmet is often Hashgacha Temidis and Bishul Yisroel. Please confirm with the Mashgiach for current information.

Meat:

All meat at AKC establishments is Glatt Kosher and from Shechitos that are under nationally recognized Hashgachos. Establishments are usually approved to receive meat from multiple suppliers depending on availability etc. At times, the Mashgiach may know where the meat currently being used is from. However, at times it can be from multiple sources/Hashgachos. If you require a specific Shechita please contact the Mashgiach at the establishment for current information.
