British Columbia Kosher, Gefen Cholent Bean Mix, Sabra Recall, Publix Bakery, Cinnaholic, Menchie’s

British Columbia Kosher or BCK also uses a K with a check as their kosher symbol. It can now be seen on Gardein products and is acceptable.

Gefen Cholent Bean Mix:

Some bags of Gefen brand Chulent Mix with the UPC# 710069035003 and with Best By dates from 8/18 to 10/18 were found to contain insects.

Under proper storage conditions, it is unusual to find infestation in these products sold in the United States. Consumers should be aware that all legumes and grains could develop infestation when stored in warm conditions. To determine whether legumes or grains are possibly affected, spread them evenly on a white surface and visually inspect them under good light prior to use.

Sabra Recall for Possible Health Risk: Consumers with any product with a “Best Before” date up through January 23, 2017 are urged to discard it or return it. Consumers can find code and “Best Before” date on the lid of each package.

Publix Bakery now has pareve icing for making custom cakes.

Cinnaholic: The cinnamon rolls, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and frostings are Kosher and pareve (EXCEPT for Chocolate Frosting which is OU-D). The toppings are Kosher, pareve, and OU-D.

Menchie’s chocolate waffle cones have been added to the approved kosher letter.

Many of the kosher restaurants are open on Thanksgiving. Call to make sure.
