Hannaford Hot Cocoa, IMAGINE Brand, Kalamata Olives, Bell Peppers, Sufganiyot, Publix Toco Hills

Hannaford Hot Cocoa Mix with Mini Marshmallows bears an unauthorized OK-D kosher symbol on the packaging. This product is NOT Kosher.

Many IMAGINE brand Soups & Broths are Kosher and bear the OU symbol. Currently, this includes “Creamy” soups (OU Pareve), Vegetable and Vegetarian broths (OU Pareve), and “Kosher Chicken Broth” (OU Meat). However, there are also many Imagine soups (chunky style) and broths (regular chicken and beef) that are not Kosher and bear no OU. Each carton needs to be carefully checked for the OU symbol.

In particular, consumers should be aware that Imagine Chicken Broth, containing real chicken, is made in both Kosher and non-Kosher versions. The Kosher version states “Kosher” prominently in the product name and bears OU Meat. Cartons without Kosher marking are non-Kosher.

According to a recent Star-K article Kalamata olives are often made with non-kosher wine vinegar. Kalamata olives should only be purchased with a reliable hechsher.

Bell Peppers from Israel are being sold at local stores and require the taking of Terumos and Maaseros. Consumers should look carefully for the country of origin by checking the fine print on the package, or the sticker on individual pepper. The same brand may have some peppers from Israel and some from other locations, so each package or pepper should be checked.
